Yesterday was a do nothing day so today we went into Gainesville for a little local fun.
But first, the husband and I did a little picture taking of one another. I don’t know if it is my weight or age, but I am having trouble finding pictures of myself I like these days. My husband took *many* shots of me and the one below is the singular picture I can kinda sorta handle. Why is it guys can just make a goofy face and always look cute. My movie star handsome husband (hey, there are *lots* of short leading men!) always looks like a million bucks, with his movie star hair and don’t give a crap attitude. Love that guy!

I, on the other hand, look “good for my age.” And so it goes. Yes, I know. I am my biggest critic.
We checked out the recently open Gainesville Flea Market. The space is good. Big and industrial. There weren’t a lot of vendors and the ones that were there weren’t all at their booths. One woman was asking $75 for a “set” of Pyrex. The blue primary bowls was mint, the yellow was okay. And then there were 2 random bowls–one in terrible shape. Yeah, no thanks. BUT! I did spot this darling yellow milk glass Hamilton mixer bowl. It is small and was a reasonable 5 bucks. The guy selling it used to work in natural foods at Ward’s so it was nice to see him again (Hi, Dan!).
I’ve never seen this bowl before and checked it out online when I got home. It seems a little rare. There are a few for sale out there, but only a few. I do love the pale yellow color. Total keeper.

My Gainesville Flea Market find.
After the flea market we went to the Harn and the Natural History Museum. I was really taken by this painting at the Harn, hung in the entryway.

Dogon Couple @ The Harn Museum by Kehinde Wiley
This really is a piece you need to see in person. The size is massive and the painting is quite realistic. The artist, Kehinde Wiley, is 2 years younger than me. Apparently he has a good amount of popular work (Puma?) but I am really out of that loop. Definitely I will be Googling the crap out of his name in the next few days. Yup, I obsess like that. You don’t even want to know how many hours I’ve spent Googling River Phoenix and his entire family.
